Recap: Carver Challengers vs. DuSable Panthers

The Carver Challengers put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against DuSable as Carver made off with a 38-14 win. Considering Carver has won five contests by more than 23 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Astarte Washington, who scored 15 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Washington has scored at least 25% of Carver's points. The team also got some help courtesy of JaNiyah Statham, who scored 11 points.

When it comes to explaining why DuSable lost, one person who can't be blamed is Damaya Plant. Despite the final result, she scored 9 points. Plant scored a full 64.3% of DuSable's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Carver's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Despite that those good results, the team's offense hasn't been rolling: across that stretch, they only averaged 25.5 points per game. As for DuSable, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Carver will be playing in front of their home fans against Harlan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Harlan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for DuSable, they will head out on the road to face off against Little Village at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Little Village: 15.8, DuSable: 18) so any points scored will be well earned.
