On the hitting side, Camila Curumaco was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Valeria Valdivia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Meanwhile, Paramount never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bellflower with a sharp 18-0 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Delylah Zermeno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Zermeno was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laritza Esparza, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. SAMANTHA MERCADO was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Paramount was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in 11 consecutive games.
Firebaugh's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Paramount, their win bumped their record up to 14-4-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Firebaugh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .568. However, it's not like Paramount struggles in that department as they've averaged .584. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
