Baseball Game Preview: Marinette Marines vs. Waupaca Comets

Marinette hasn't had much luck against Waupaca recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Marines will head out on the road to challenge the Comets at 11:00 a.m. The last five games Marinette has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Marinette didn't have quite enough to beat Little Chute and fell 5-3. That's two games in a row now that the Marines have lost by exactly two runs.

Sawyer Walters made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Waupaca was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 10-1 to Fox Valley Lutheran.

Waupaca's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Marinette, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Marinette suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Waupaca in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Marines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
