Volleyball Recap: Nordonia Triumphs

Nordonia won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Saturday too. The Knights walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Blue Devils.

Ej Sopata paced Nordonia's offense, picking up eight kills. Sopata got some help from Zac Fernandez and his 19 assists. Fernandez was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Nordonia now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Independence, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Nordonia is set to face off against their familiar foe Garfield Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Independence will challenge rival Berkshire at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Blue Devils' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
