Basketball Recap: Wellington Takes a Loss

Wellington has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Miami Country Day Spartans.

Miami Country Day's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chaim Galbut, who went 7 of 15 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Orbe, who went 8 for 17 on his way to 19 points.

Wellington's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Miami Country Day, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Wellington won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Academy of Central Florida at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Academy of Central Florida knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Wellington likes a good challenge. As for Miami Country Day, they and Coral Glades will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Miami Country Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.3 points per game this season.
