Basketball Recap: Whiteland Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Lilly Boner and Bryanna Gillock

Whiteland lost against Mooresville back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Whiteland Warriors took a hard 49-30 fall against the Mooresville Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Pioneers are ranked 74th).

Despite the defeat, Whiteland had strong showings from Bryanna Gillock, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, and Lilly Boner, who posted seven points. The dominant performance also gave Boner a new career-high in assists (two).

Ava Shafer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mooresville, going 8 of 15 on her way to 20 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jessie Shue, who put up ten points and four steals.

Whiteland's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Mooresville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Whiteland has already played their next contest, a 57-51 defeat against Columbus East on the 4th. As for Mooresville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-29 win against Perry Meridian on the 4th.
