Basketball Recap: Alvin Falls Despite Big Games from Hayden Holloway and Jasmine Sanchez

Alvin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 44-26 fall against the South Houston Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-44 back in December of 2024.

Jasmine Sanchez and Hayden Holloway certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sanchez posted ten points, while Holloway almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points Holloway has posted since back in November of 2024.

Alvin's loss dropped their record down to 8-22. As for South Houston, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-12.

Alvin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 50-34 victory against Sam Rayburn on the 25th. South Houston has also already played their next contest, a 55-16 defeat against Manvel on the 25th.
