Softball Recap: Sterling Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Geneseo, Sterling was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Rochelle Hubs by a score of 18-15. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Warriors in their matchups with the Hubs: they've now won nine in a row.

Mya Lira was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Castillo, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Sterling's record now sits at 17-12. As for Rochelle, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

Sterling will be playing at home against Moline at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Maroons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.42 runs per game on average), something the Golden Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rochelle, they will venture away from home to take on Stillman Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
