Baseball Recap: Dawson Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Dawson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dobie Longhorns 4-3.

Jack Dyment was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Dawson is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-5 otherwise. Dyment was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Dyment wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Gutierrez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Gutierrez has posted since back in April of 2024.

Dawson's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Dobie, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dawson will challenge Dobie at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dobie, they will take on Deer Park in a tournament on Thursday.
