Football Recap: Wildwood Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

The matchup between Wildwood and Hernando on Tuesday hardly resembled the 20-6 effort from their previous meeting. The Wildcats snuck past the Leopards with a 38-32 win. The victory was just business as usual for the Wildcats, who after six games remain undefeated this season.

A big part of Wildwood's win came down to the chemistry between Zoey Brown and her top target Trinidy Harris. Brown threw for 268 yards and six touchdowns while Harris picked up 116 receiving yards and four scores. Those 116 receiving yards gave Harris a new career-high.

Wildwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Brown led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 passing touchdowns per game.

Despite the loss, Hernando still got an impressive performance from Carlie Grant, who threw for 245 yards and three TDs while completing 82.1% of her passes, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. Grant didn't just play on offense: she also made six total tackles and defended one pass. Aajyrah Adams also helped out with an impressive 100 receiving yards.

Wildwood pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Hernando, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-3 record.

Wildwood wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 28-6 win against West Port on the 9th. As for Hernando, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-0 victory against Lecanto on the 15th.
