Basketball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Louisa County Lions 65-31. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Lions are ranked 171st).

Monticello's loss came despite strong showings from Layla J and Stella Snoddy. J dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Snoddy posted ten points. J continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Peyton Brady continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Louisa County, going 9 of 12 en route to 24 points along with seven boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was Harlee Lowe, who had 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Louisa County, their record now sits at 6-4.

Monticello wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-45 loss against Albemarle on the 17th. As for Louisa County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-51 victory against Orange County on the 17th.
