Recap: Huss Huskies vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers
The Huss Huskies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 66-52 bruising from Kings Mountain. While losing is never fun, Huss can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Kings Mountain is ranked 57th).
Despite the loss, Huss still got an impressive performance from Trimell Dunlap, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Damontia Duff was another key contributor, scoring six points.
J'myun Huskey was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds for Kings Mountain. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Floyd, who scored 12 points.
Huss has fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 2-8. As for Kings Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Huss will look to defend their home court on Friday against South Point at 7:30 p.m. South Point will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Kings Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against North Gaston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Jurnee Lattimore and Floyd.
