Football Recap: Gavin Bowman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastern Hancock over South Putnam

Eastern Hancock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The contest between the Royals and the South Putnam Eagles didn't end well, with the Royals falling 33-19. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Royals of the 21-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2021.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Bowman, who picked up 48 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Mark Kube got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

A big part of South Putnam's win came down to the chemistry between Drew Cline and his top target Bransyn Ensor. Cline threw for 345 yards and three TDs while picking up 14.4 yards per attempt while Ensor picked up 119 receiving yards and one score. Ensor's longest reception was for an incredible 95 yards.

Eastern Hancock's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for South Putnam, their record is now 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern Hancock will welcome Knightstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Royals' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Putnam, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sullivan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Golden Arrows' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
