Volleyball Recap: North Iredell Raiders vs. Watauga Pioneers

After flying high against A.C. Reynolds on Monday, North Iredell came back down to earth. The Raiders came up short against the Watauga Pioneers on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-17, 25-12.

Watauga found their leader in sophomore Caroline Childers, who had 16 digs and three aces. Childers has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilli Combs, who had nine digs.

North Iredell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Watauga, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Coincidentally, North Iredell and Watauga will both be playing Providence the next time they take the court. The Raiders will host the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Pioneers will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
