Basketball Game Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. Bonneville Lakers

The Kearns Cougars will take on the Bonneville Lakers in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Kearns is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Hillcrest by a score of 53-51. The Cougars were up 23-8 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Meanwhile, Bonneville entered their tilt with Highland on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 39-12 victory over the Rams. The Lakers pushed the score to 29-4 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams had little chance of recovering from.

Bonneville found their leader in sophomore Baya Jimenez, who posted ten points in addition to six assists and six steals. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Jimenez. The team also got some help courtesy of Adisyn Stone, who put up six points along with ten boards and three steals.

Bonneville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Bonneville's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Kearns, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
