Baseball Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Oak Park Eagles

Fillmore hasn't had much luck against Oak Park recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Flashes will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Oak Park took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fillmore, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Fillmore turned things around against Santa Paula on Friday. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 6-2.

Thomas Alamillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fillmore's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was JJ Jasso, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. The Flashes are undefeated when Jasso posts two or more runs, but 1-18 otherwise. Gabriel Magana also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Oak Park suffered their closest loss since April 21, 2025 on Friday. They fell just short of Camarillo by a score of 6-4.

Tyler Kutsch put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2025. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Fillmore's victory bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Oak Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.

Fillmore came up short against Oak Park in their previous matchup back in February, falling 3-0. Can the Flashes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
