Basketball Recap: Cloverleaf Colts vs. Valley Forge Patriots

The Cloverleaf Colts can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-33 win over Valley Forge. Cloverleaf pushed the score to 40-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.

Cloverleaf found their leader in underclassman Evie Barth, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Barth has scored at least a third of Cloverleaf's points. Another player making a difference was Saige Foky, who scored 15 points along with three steals.

Valley Forge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cloe Rzeczycki, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Rzeczycki hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Taylor Patrick was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Cloverleaf's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Valley Forge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cloverleaf will take on the Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley Forge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
