Basketball Recap: West Las Vegas Comes Up Short

West Las Vegas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 94-71 to the St. Michael's Horsemen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Horsemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 88-51 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why West Las Vegas lost, don't look at Devaughn Kensey. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 39 points and 12 rebounds. Kensey is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last 25 games he's played dating back to last season. Ethan Tafoya was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, West Las Vegas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

West Las Vegas' defeat dropped their record down to 14-10. As for St. Michael's, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-4.

West Las Vegas has already played their next game, a 73-40 win against Santa Fe Prep on the 18th. As for St. Michael's, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-55 loss against Robertson on the 18th.
