One of the top teams in the nation gets creative

Darien (Conn.) pulled off one of the best hidden ball tricks you'll ever see in high school lacrosse.

The Blue Wave had something up their sleeve during the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship game against rival New Canaan. Rock Stewart and goalie Ryan Cornell covered the ball with their sticks and made an exchange with their backs to the Rams.

Essentially the entire Rams defense and all cameras followed Cornell as he turned and shot upfield. Cornell dove near midfield as the Rams stood in confusion with the ball nowhere in sight.

Moments later, the camera panned to the Rams' net as Colin Minicus sprinted off the field celebrating a goal to the crowd's roaring applause.

Duped!

"That's a highlight reel that everybody will be thinking about for years to come," Darien coach Jeff Brameier told Sean Bowley of GameTimeCT.com

The goal spurred Darien to capture its third-consecutive FCIAC title with a 9-5 victory. The Blue Wave are undefeated this season and the No. 3 team according to the Xcellent 25 National Boys Lacrosse Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
