Softball Recap: Paintsville Makes It Three in a Row at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Paintsville faced off against Betsy Layne on Monday. The Tigers walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Bobcats. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 17-2 win the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Molly Music spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grier Collins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Paintsville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-13. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Betsy Layne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Paintsville will head out to face off against Pike County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Betsy Layne, they will welcome Menifee County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
