Basketball Recap: Andrews' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Andrews needed a changed in momentum after dropping 19 straight games and they got it from Makayla Singleton. The Andrews Yellowjackets slipped by the Manning Monarchs 39-38 on Tuesday thanks in part to Singleton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Shaniya Coachman, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Manning had strong showings from Tamia Watson, who posted four points and 17 rebounds, and Aysia Moore, who put up ten points. What's more, Watson also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023.

Andrews' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Manning, their record now sits at 2-2.

Andrews didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 80-12 defeat against Berkeley on the 11th. As for Manning, they will challenge Scott's Branch at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
