Recap: Tongue River Eagles vs. Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers

On Friday, the Tongue River Eagles faced the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Tongue River rang in the new year with a 60-50 win over Lingle-Fort Laramie. 60 seems to be a good number for Tongue River as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Despite the loss, Lingle-Fort Laramie still got an impressive performance from Natalie Speckner, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenly Shipp, who scored 11 points along with three steals.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Tongue River, bringing their record for this year to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Tongue River will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Niobrara County at 5:30 p.m. on January 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Wyoming (Niobrara County is ranked 33rd, while Tongue River is ranked 15th). As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, they will head out on the road to face off against Wright at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
