Basketball Recap: Carson Comes Up Short

Carson suffered their closest loss since January 7th on Friday. They fell just short of the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans by a score of 49-47. The Cougars have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Carson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rylee Hedrick went 7-for-13 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hedrick a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (63%). Another player making a difference was Julia Burleson, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and five boards.

Carson's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Carson nor Northwest Cabarrus have any future games scheduled.
