Football Recap: Chaparral Falls to San Juan Hills in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Chaparral had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 38-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Juan Hills Stallions on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost, don't look at Dane Weber. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries, and also threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt. The Pumas' leading receiver Michael ( Kiko ) Farinas was Weber's top target yet again, picking up 111 receiving yards and one TD.

San Juan Hills was led to victory by Timmy Herr and Elijah Ayala. Herr threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, while Ayala rushed for 128 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Ayala really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. 80 of Herr's passing yards were hauled in by Ryan Matheson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on San Clemente at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for San Juan Hills, they will head out to take on Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
