Despite their defeat, Newport - Bellevue saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elianna Weiss, who posted 17 points along with eight boards and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. With that strong performance, Weiss is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Elie De Leon, who earned 12 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Liberty faced Auburn in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The matchup between the Patriots and the Trojans didn't end well, with the Patriots falling 46-28.

Newport - Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
