Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Berne Union

Berne Union waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Fairfield Christian Academy Knights as they made off with a 21-2 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Rockets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Josilyn Hedges made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Berne Union got a massive performance out of Rylee North, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, North posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cloe Hatzer, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Berne Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .658. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .537 or higher in four consecutive games.

Berne Union's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fairfield Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Coming up, Berne Union will face off against Liberty Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfield Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Millersport at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
