Basketball Game Preview: Wooster Colts vs. South Tahoe Vikings

The Wooster Colts will face off against the South Tahoe Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Wooster easily dispatched Truckee on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Wooster fell just short of Churchill County by a score of 58-55 on Saturday. The Colts' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, South Tahoe strolled past Hug with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 58-44.

South Tahoe's win came from a few key players Wooster will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Oscar Mendoza, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to six steals and five boards. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Bryant, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

South Tahoe pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Wooster, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-12.

Wooster came out on top in a nail-biter against South Tahoe in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 53-50. Does Wooster have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Tahoe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
