Baseball Game Preview: Salem Wildcats vs. Flora Wolves

The Salem Wildcats will face off against the Flora Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Salem's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Altamont 1-0.

Rhett Detering looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Salem: the team is 6-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday's Canine Competition, Flora didn't have enough. They fell 5-2 to Carmi-White County on Wednesday. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Salem's victory bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Flora, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Everything went Salem's way against Flora when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Salem made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
