Basketball Recap: Azziza Flowers Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Swainsboro

There's no place like home for Statesboro, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 victory over the Swainsboro Tigers on Saturday. The Blue Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Statesboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Azziza Flowers, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Myers, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Swainsboro lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kimiya Freeman, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points. A'Acaylah Murphy was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 rebounds.

Statesboro moved to 6-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Swainsboro, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
