Basketball Recap: Morgantown Christian Academy Skates Past Elk Valley Christian with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morgantown Christian Academy). They claimed a resounding 84-46 victory over the Elk Valley Christian Eagles. With the Mustangs ahead 44-22 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Cole Mathess was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 21 times he's played. Collin Lemley was another key player, putting up 16 points and six boards.

Morgantown Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elk Valley Christian only racked up six assists.

Despite the loss, Elk Valley Christian still got an impressive performance from Spencer Campbell, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Mikey Graham also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Morgantown Christian Academy pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for Elk Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Morgantown Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 60-41 victory against Pipestem Christian Academy on the 18th. As for Elk Valley Christian, they will face off against Hannan at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Elk Valley Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
