Volleyball Recap: Rye Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Rye was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Rocky Ford on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thunderbolts fell just short of the Swink Lions by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Thunderbolts didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 25-17 in the first set.

Rye took Swink into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 16-14.

Despite the loss, Rye saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gloriana Ruiz had 14 digs and three aces. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Ruiz.

Rye's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Swink, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rye will square off against Hoehne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Swink, they will take on Limon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
