Football Recap: Jaylen Turner Key Part of Team Effort in Golden Eagles Win + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Desert Hot Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They snuck past the Big Bear Bears with a 19-14 win on Friday. This was payback for the Golden Eagles, who suffered a 21-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Desert Hot Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylen Turner led the charge by throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Turner racked up 12 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Desert Hot Springs' defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Isaiah Flenor and Aundrey Vazquez, who racked up four sacks between them. Kei'Mani Alger was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Although Big Bear took the loss, they still got scores from Wade Addington and Savion Sorapuru.

Desert Hot Springs moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Big Bear, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Coming up, Desert Hot Springs will head out on the road to square off against Yucca Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Big Bear, they will host Whittier Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Bears' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
