Softball Recap: Illiana Christian's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

Illiana Christian dropped their record down to 18-9 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Crown Point Bulldogs, falling 7-0. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Crown Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Crown Point, who have now won 18 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Crown Point's part, Illiana Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Paige Liezert, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up three walks). Liezert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Rangel, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Ashlyn Kita was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Illiana Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Hanover Central on the 27th. As for Crown Point, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Hammond Morton on the 27th.
