Hammond Morton waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles 18-7. The Governors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Fighting Eagles, too.

The team relied heavily on Juleeana Temores, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Payten Bevill was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Hammond Morton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Hammond Morton pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Lake Station Edison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Hammond Morton will venture away from home to challenge Merrillville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Governors are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Lake Station Edison, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on River Forest at 5:00 p.m. on the 12th.
