Softball Game Preview: Eastern Guilford Wildcats vs. Southeast Guilford Falcons

The Eastern Guilford Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Southeast Guilford Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeast Guilford took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastern Guilford, who comes in off a win.

Eastern Guilford will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Atkins on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Camels with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Camels: they've now won eight in a row.

Kamryn Permar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erin Bell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Krista Gunnell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Eastern Guilford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atkins only posted a batting average of .050.

Meanwhile, Southeast Guilford came up short against Southwest Guilford on Tuesday and fell 16-11.

Eastern Guilford's record now sits at 6-8. As for Southeast Guilford, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.

Eastern Guilford suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Southeast Guilford in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
