Catholic Central had lost seven games straight , but after bumping their record up to 2-11 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers 18-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hilltoppers have posted since May 13, 2024.

As for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7. On the bright side, the 16- run performance marked their highest-scoring matchup to date.

For St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's part, Damien Dax stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Dax is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Dietrich, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
