Football Recap: Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering Comes Up Short at Home Against KIPP College Prep

Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 50-20 loss at the hands of KIPP College Prep on Friday. Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering lost against KIPP College Prep in their previous head to head back in September of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 2-0 score last time.

KIPP College Prep had a senior duo take command as Gregory Simon rushed for 100 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries and Markel Stephens threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes. Stephens also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making eight total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Anthony Graves was another key player, rushing for 46 yards and one TD.

Coming up, Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Ballou at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for KIPP College Prep, they will square off against Friendly at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
