Football Recap: North Stokes Comes Up Short at Home Against Cherryville

North Stokes unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Cherryville Ironmen 68-8 on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Noah Bennett threw for 45 yards and one touchdown.

Jackson Heavner had an outrageously good game for Cherryville as he rushed for 262 yards and five TDs on only nine carries. Heavner's longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Javarius McElhaney, who gained 30 total yards and two touchdowns.

Coming up, North Stokes is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Elkin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cherryville, they will host Owen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
