Baseball Recap: Gate City Wins Going Away Against Richlands

Gate City barely beat Richlands the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Gate City put the hurt on Richlands with a sharp 11-1 victory on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-7 last Tuesday.

Gate City got a massive performance out of Zachary DePriest, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brayden Cox, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Gate City and bumps their season record up to 2-0-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Richlands, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gate City will challenge Cherokee at 6:00 p.m. on April 1. As for Richlands, they will square off against Patrick Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
