Softball Game Preview: Triton Trojans vs. Mishawaka Marian Knights

The Triton Trojans will square off against the Mishawaka Marian Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Triton has given up an average of 16.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Triton's offense. They came up short against Bremen on Wednesday, falling 12-0. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, Mishawaka Marian came into Friday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let Michigan City get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Not much got past Chloe Weber, who gave up just a hit to keep Michigan City off the board. Weber has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mishawaka Marian got a massive performance out of Halle Pedraza, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Pedraza has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Katie Milligan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mishawaka Marian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Triton's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Mishawaka Marian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
