The Greenwood Rangers will face off against the Seminole Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenwood will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Greenwood will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Andrews, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Greenwood narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Andrews 8-7.
Addison Arredondo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Mae Savage and Brylee Savage did most of the damage at the plate: Mae scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Brylee scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Brylee has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Millie Wilkinson, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Seminole was able to grind out a solid victory over Fort Stockton on Monday, taking the game 8-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Seminole also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Zoey Teichroeb gave up five runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. Furthermore, Teichroeb didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on J'Cee Washington, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Zaylee Teichroeb, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Seminole pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, they now have a winning record of 13-12-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greenwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Seminole struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
