Softball Game Preview: Newark Wildcats vs. Groveport-Madison Cruisers

Newark is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Groveport-Madison a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Newark Wildcats will host the Groveport-Madison Cruisers at 5:15 p.m. This will be Newark's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

It was a proper cat-fight when Newark took on Lincoln on Thursday. Newark took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly three runs.

Tyana Spears made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Lexi Shanaberg was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Spears wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Newark kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Groveport-Madison got the win against Whetstone on Saturday by a conclusive 11-1.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Groveport-Madison, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Newark took their win against Groveport-Madison when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-4. Does Newark have another victory up their sleeve, or will Groveport-Madison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
