Football Preview: Loris Lions vs. Dillon Wildcats
Loris is 1-9 against Dillon since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Dillon will be up against a hot Loris squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Lions blew past Socastee 50-6 last Friday. Fans of the Lions have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Loris got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Khalid Sherman out in front who rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Sherman really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamire Gerald, who threw for 202 yards and four TDs on only 16 passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Loris was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 208 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Loris' defense and their five sacks. Landon Conner was especially locked on to Socastee's QB and sacked him three times. Conner has been hot, having posted at least one sack the last five times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dillon). They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Hartsville 62-35. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
Loris' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Dillon, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Loris skirted past Dillon 30-27 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Jamarion Fling, who rushed for 132 yards and a pair of scores.
