The Lewis Cass Kings will square off against the Rochester Zebras at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lewis Cass lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Wabash, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Kings blew past the Apaches 10-1 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Kings.
Hannah Penn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Hannah Zamora was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Lewis Cass hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Rochester entered their tilt with Whitko on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Zebras have posted since April 23rd.
Bria Rensberger spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brailyn Hunter, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Rochester's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lewis Cass, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lewis Cass hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Rochester struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
