Football Game Preview: Calvary Christian Warriors vs. St. Petersburg Green Devils

The Calvary Christian Warriors will square off against the St. Petersburg Green Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Calvary Christian put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They put the hurt on Northside Christian with a sharp 56-36 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Warriors' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Mustangs are ranked 247th).

Jack Wang went supernova, rushing for 122 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Calvary Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 31-21 win over Northeast on Friday.

A big part of St. Petersburg's victory came down to the chemistry between Cole Underwood and his top target Thomas Grizzard. Underwood threw for 186 yards and three TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes while Grizzard picked up 105 receiving yards and three scores.

St. Petersburg's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Calvary Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Calvary Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against St. Petersburg in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 33-28 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Green Devils' Jeffery Jones, who rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 75 yards and one TD.
