Soccer Game Preview: Wooddale vs. Kirby

The Wooddale Cardinals will venture away from home to square off against the Kirby Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Wooddale turned things around against Craigmont on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-2 win over the Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Kirby entered their tilt with Craigmont on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of 4-2. That's two games straight that Kirby have won by exactly two goals.

Kirby pushed their record up to 7-1-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those six matches. As for Wooddale, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Wooddale came out on top in a nail-biter against Kirby in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
