Softball Recap: Franklin Wins Going Away Against North Plainfield

Franklin came out on top against North Plainfield on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Warriors put the hurt on the Canucks with a sharp 8-1 win. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 11-3 victory the Canucks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

Josslyn Sejeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Vicky Gabryszewski was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Faith C also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

With the win, Franklin broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-10. As for North Plainfield, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will head out to face off against Elizabeth at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Plainfield, they will venture away from home to challenge Bound Brook at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
