Softball Recap: Gilmer Snags 13th Victory in Last 14 Games

Gilmer had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Chapel Hill on Tuesday. The Buckeyes' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Buckeyes, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Gilmer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Chapel Hill, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gilmer will face off against rival Henderson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Buckeyes 2.5, the Lions 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Chapel Hill is set to take on their familiar foe Carthage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
