Softball Recap: Lutheran Crusaders vs. Genoa-Kingston Cogs

Lutheran extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-16 in the process. They came up short against the Genoa-Kingston Cogs, falling 18-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in April.

As for Genoa-Kingston, their record now sits at 9-13-1. That looming 18-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Genoa-Kingston's part, Lily Provost made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Provost a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Genoa-Kingston got a massive performance out of Olivia Vasak, who went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Angelina Lucio also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
