The Potomac Falls Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the South Lakes Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Potomac Falls had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Rock Ridge on Thursday. Potomac Falls blew past Rock Ridge 17-3. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.
The team relied heavily on Lyla Daugherty-Moysey, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Reuss, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Potomac Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Ridge only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Lakes). They put the hurt on Dominion with a sharp 26-3 victory on Tuesday. With that win, the Seahawks brought their scoring average up to 10.8 runs per game.
Holly Otte made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Otte was also big at the plate, scoring a run.
In other batting news, Kayla Rudolph was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Meagan Maguire was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Potomac Falls' record now sits at 3-1. As for South Lakes, their record is now an identical 3-1.
